SubSoil Mulching a Food Plot

This was an especially difficult food plot to create. The area the customer wanted cut out was not just covered in stumps and trees stemming from old tree stumps, it was also extremely steep.

Lincolnton, NC (Subdivision Lot Restoration)

We were called out to a small lot in a Lincolnton subdivision. A previous “clearing” left the homeowner with only a small usable yard. The rest of the property was thrashed. Most of the material was pushed to the back and sides. The ground was covered with logs, stumps, and debris. This made it unsafe and difficult to walk through.

The homeowner spoke with multiple contractors. All of them said the only option was to leave it. They mentioned that it was best to let the debris rot away over time. BillyGoat Mulching was able to subsoil mulch the logs, stumps, and debris into the soil. They used the extra material to help level the grade. This also repaired ground that had been stripped of nutrients where only briars and invasive brush would grow.

We seeded the area after mulching. The organic material is buried to compost underground. This process kept the soil warmer through the fall and winter. Therefore, straw was not needed. There’s an updated video on our Facebook page showing how the grass held up through winter, and it stayed green.

SubSoil Mulching Yard Full Of Stumps and Debris

Here we subsoil mulched an area a customer had previously had a forestry mulcher clear, there was plenty of stumps and debris including a slab of asphalt we found by accident. No worries though our equipment turned the asphalt into millings and buried it below the surface anyway.

Forestry Mulching Stumps

We were hired to grind down 100’s of stumps left behind by a logging company that promised the customer the area would be flat. The stumps were leveled with the ground.
