What we do
Forestry mulching (fast surface clearing)
Forestry mulching grinds brush, saplings, and small trees into mulch right on-site. It’s a great option when you want to reclaim land without pushing everything into piles.
Brush clearing (fence lines, thick regrowth)
If your property is getting swallowed by briars, vines, and saplings, brush clearing opens it back up and leaves you with a finish you can maintain.
View thinning + access trails
A lot of properties near the South Mountains have great potential, you just can’t see it yet. We can selectively clear to open views and create practical access.
If your main concern is what’s happening below the surface roots, small stumps, uneven ground, or you want a more “finished” surface subsoil mulching may be the right upgrade.
Subsoil mulching can help when you want:
- Root and stump reduction (site/species dependent)
- A smoother, more level finish
- A better starting point for seeding or long-term maintenance
- Less “bounce-back” from certain types of regrowth (site dependent)
Not every property needs it. I’ll recommend it only when it matches your end goal.
If invasive vines, thickets, or aggressive brush are taking over, we can mechanically clear and open the area back up so you can maintain it.
Common targets include:
- Vines and groundcover that climb/smother trees
- Dense thickets that swallow fence lines and field edges
- Brushy regrowth that keeps coming back
We’ll talk through what you’re seeing on-site and the most realistic path to reduce regrowth over time.
Common Projects
- Overgrown lots & acreage
- Trails & access paths
- View thinning (keep the good trees, open the view)
- Homesites / build areas
- Brush clearing around property edges and fence lines
How pricing works
Every property is different, but here’s what typically drives cost:
- Density and diameter of vegetation
- Slope/terrain and access
- Rock content and hidden debris
- Total acreage and the finish you want
Most projects finish in 1–2 days, and we’ll give you a clear quote after a walk-through.
Why BillyGoat Mulching
- Owner-operator – I am on-site from quote to finish and make sure you are happy with the project before we leave.
- Insured – I take pride in being accident free, but just in case I maintain a great insurance policy to keep your property safe
- Clean, low-mess clearing – I use smaller less invasive equipment to keep your property healthy. No Burning, No Hauling, Less Noise
- Sustainable Land Clearing – I believe in sustainable, cost-effective land clearing practices. This means not stripping the top soil and leaving you with soil that is difficult to work with. We add all the organic matter back into the soil to compost and create a nutrients rich environment for your desired vegetation.
- Pride – I take pride in my work and being the first and only land clearing company in North Carolina to offer subsoil mulching services. Forestry mulching clears the surface only leaving behind stumps and roots. Subsoil Mulching removes the stumps and root systems eliminating regrowth and leaving you with a smooth level surface that is either seed-ready or build ready.
- Free on-site estimate – I come to you and LISTEN, I know that most property owners have a vision of what they want and I want to hear it from you. Then I show you how we will bring that vision to reality.
Before/After

The goal was to clear this thick pine growth so that the property owner had more visibility as well as a spot to build a boat storage building. As soon as the area was opened up we added a few extra trails for the property owner to access the property line and created a zipline lane for his grandchildren.
